If this is the first time you are reading this blog it is important that you read Chief Harmony I in order to get the background information on this series.
Chief Harmony was so arrogant that he thought he could just go anywhere and do anything that he wanted. One day he walks into the Group Training Advisor’s office. A Training advisor is a GS-14 which is the civilian equivalent to a senior Lt Col or a Colonel (Col). His role is to advise the group commander on training issues and oversee the production of the Training Managers assigned to the different squadrons within the group.
Chief Harmony decides to start his familiarization tour. He drives to group headquarters and walks into the Training Advisor’s office and sits down. He looks at the training advisor and asks; “What is your function?”
The Training Advisor, who was my mentor, looks at Chief Harmony and responds with; “Excuse me?”
Chief: “What is your role here?”
TA: “Who are you”
Chief: I’m the Security Force Manger for the squadron.”
TA: “No your not, they are not authorized a Security Force Manager. Who are you?”
Chief: “Well, I’m the squadron superintendent.”
TA: “No your not, they are not authorized a squadron superintendent.”
Chief: “Well, I’ve been recently assigned to the squadron.”
TA: “Well, let me tell you who I am. I am a retired CMSgt so I know what the role of a CMSgt is. I am the Training Advisor for the group and am a GS-14. Don’t you ever come into my office again without making an appointment. Now get out before I call the base police to physically remove you.”
Chief Harmony then leaves.
